In the spring of 2000, a life long dream came true when I opened my first shop in a tiny storefront in downtown Savannah. Within three years we had outgrown that little store and the search for a larger location began. I settled on a centrally located space with more visibility and foot traffic. After spending three years in the second location, we found ourselves once again craving more space. As luck would have it we found an enormous turn of the century storefront on Savannah's premier shopping street. Our current location opened in October of 2007. As a creative person I love the challenge of reinventing the shop but after two redesigns I hope to never move again.
@home is recognized as one of the most inspiring, stylish and original stores in the area. If you have never been to the shop, I offer this brief description to get you acquainted with our aesthetic.
For those that love weathered furnishings, @home is a great place to find stylish yet affordable items for your lifestyle. Known as a "vintage general store," the shop is filled with one-of-a-kind finds as well as vintage-inspired new items. @home is a mixture of modern country and cottage styles. Creatively matching old and new is the forte of our unique shop. The store is stocked with hard to find goods and gifts in the following categories: antiques, textiles, fine ribbons, stationery and gift wrap, bed and bath products, jewelry, garden accessories, kitchen items, furniture, children's items, lighting, architectural, industrial and old school artifacts.
in case you missed it...
I have had the good fortune of having my freelance projects and the shop featured in the following publications:Country Living, Country Home, Better Homes & Gardens, Southern Accents, Lucky, Vanity Fair, Cottage Living, Cooking with Paula Deen, Bargain Style, Holiday Crafts, Christmas Ideas, Boho Magazine, Adorn, South, Flea Market Style, Savannah Magazine, Savannah Weddings, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles and Decorating Magazine. Online we have been featured on Design Sponge, Decor 8, Darling Dexter and Once Wed.
the people behind the magic...
I could not do any of this without the support of my husband. He is the motivating force behind the visionary. He helps me do everything from building projects to rearranging to hunting for antiques all while running his own successful custom furniture business and helping raise our beautiful son.
I also have the distinct pleasure of sharing my shop with a talented and inspiring group of girls (past & present) that contribute to the creative environment on a daily basis.
then there is me...
I was a bit bohemian growing up with a love for old things so I savored the opportunity to work in an antique shop in my early twenties. I quickly realized that this was my calling. In 1995 I moved to Savannah, GA to obtain a BFA at the Savannah College of Art & Design. Shortly after graduation I opened the shop and the rest is history.
my other job...
In 2003, an editor from a national magazine took me under his wing and introduced me to the editoral process. As a freelance producer and photo stylist I have worked with incredibly gifted people that continue to inspire and challenge me. My work is reflective of the environment and aesthetic found in my store. @home has served as a creative laboratory filled with elements that I pull into my features. I have produced and styled magazine features, purchased and supplied props for video, television, film and print media.
my most recent endeavor...
In the spring of 2009 I launched Elizabeth Demos Event Design & Styling (www.elizabethdemos.com). I'm available for full event design and coordination both near and far. It has been a natural transition for me as a shop owner. I have the opportunity to incorporate all the things I love the most; being creative, working with people, exploring my imagination and inventive design.

Love your latest post--especially the ruffled apron. I have a huge weakness for tiered ruffles. Then...I was crazy excited to see that you had added me to your "people, places, things". @home is always my first stop in Savannah, so I am thrilled to be included in your blog. :)
Yeah!! I can't wait to see all the new stuff!!!
Those aprons have my name ALL over them.
Eep! My husband and I will be in savannah from the 3-5 of july and I am so excited to visit you shop! :)
I am hoping to do a little article on neat shops and crafty spots in savannah. I`m sure the streets are thriving with them, but maybe you could give me a couple pointers as well.
My e-mail is ohkimma@gmail.com or you can just come by my little blog which hasn`t been loved on in a couple weeks.
