light at the end of the tunnel

I just got the February issue of Country Living with a feature about the home my husband and I lovingly restored. It was just what I needed. A real pick me up in the middle of all the shop closing craziness, unfriendly bargain hunters and sad emails & blog comments.

I've decided that life hands you only what you can bear. I have a lot to look forward to and a lot to be thankful for.

Dear Liz,

I couldn't believe the news when I read the post about the store closing...! But you have a great eye for design, and I am sure that you will find other ways of expressing your incredible talent... And I loved the feature of your home in Country Living...

I look forward to following you in your new ventures - it sounds like you have lots of different things lined up.

All my best,

Congrats Liz! I always like to say: "when one door closes, another opens." It's hard to wrap your head around that sometimes, but . . . you gotta. I will have to go out and buy the issue now! Can't wait to see it!

I loved running into your home in the magazine! I "know" her :) It's a gorgeous home.
I had no idea your shop was closing. I had the extreme pleasure of discovering it almost 5 years ago while vacationing in Savannah, and just recently told someone to go find it when they were down there :( I had hoped to even be carried in your shop one day! Too sad.
Hang in there during the gray days!

Loved the feature in CL, Liz. Such a neat home, not to mention an adorable son and husband!

As far as your creativity, talent, and professional grace go...I assure you that closing the shop is only the beginning!!! :)

I just received the magazine in the mail. Decided a good ol' subscription gift to myself would be a good christmas present. Well I had no idea you would be in it but I stumbled on your blog about a year back and loved what I saw. I read the article in the magazine and thought you looked familiar. It wasn't until I spotted your name again near the back of the magazine and recognized vintagegeneral.com that I made the link. Fantastic article. And I'm sorry to here that you closed your store. I know everything will work out perfectly for you, your husband, and adorable son. :)

I saw your home, it's delish. And just like the phoenix in Harry Potter, you will rise from the ashes.

SO SORRY to hear that you are closing!! i was so looking forward to visiting with you when i get to Savannah next month from Ohio ( i was in there February last year) - your store was a bright spot for me and will be sorely missed :( all of God's best in your next adventure, take care! i will be buying this magazine and treasuring it - you and your store were wonderful- i would like to post pictures i took of your store last year on FLICKR, but i want to be respectful and ask permission first- let me know if that ok or if you'd rather not- i won't until i hear from you. Again, take care! Lynn Gaines, American Greetings

I'm so happy to have found your blog. We met in your store a couple of years ago and I absolutely love it & your style. I've been planning a trip back to Savannah but am honestly not even sure anymore if your store won't be there. It was by far one of my favorites ever.

I'm so sorry for what you're going through but see a bright future in store- you're so incredibly talented. Congratulations on the beautiful CL feature!!

Best wishes,

lauren @ pure style home

I bought some little eggs for a baby shower that im throwing for my sister in law. I will be very excited to see the online store open for business.

Dear Ms. Demos,

I do realize you are very busy, but if you could find it in your heart to describe briefly how you joined the pieces together for your stair thread countertop, that would be very gracious of you.

Sincerely
Susan

While reading CL, your name sounded familiar and sure enough. During our travels to Savannah a handful of years ago, your store was such a highlight. I kept (and still do) saying to my husband what a great store - taking bits of vintage and mixing it with present day. I was very saddened to hear about the store closing and can not imagine the process (esp. mental) in getting to this point. I wish you well on this next stage and thanks for such inspration.

Help!!! I just read and re-read the issue. LOVE IT!! But I am dying to know the artist of the Robin print. I love the style and would like to find more work by that artist if not that print. I am purchasing my 1st home and need to fill it with treasures and that picture feels good. Plus, my autistic son LOVES it! And anything he finds calming is a must. ;) And after the 2yrs we've had we could use the cheer.
